The City of Angels Ballet extends its reach into Los Angeles’ communities to discover talented elementary school students. Children who demonstrate the physical ability necessary for a professional dance career are chosen to participate in the program, which provides them with unparalleled classical ballet training. Most students attend classes on full scholarship.

The City of Angels Ballet School students show an increased ability to focus in school. A number of academic teachers expressed that students from the City of Angels Ballet School program exude a new found self-confidence. The ballet program’s artistic faculties observe young dancers become inspired to overcome limits imposed by poverty, bias, and language barriers. The artistic staff recognizes that few children will choose or be chosen for a career in the rarefied art of ballet. However, the lessons learned at City of Angels Ballet School reach far deeper than just dance instruction. The skills and values instilled in these young dancers are instrumental for their long-term development and future success.

With minimal time and commitment consider giving your students the gift of an audition for the City of Angels Ballet School.  Classes of interest are first and second grades.  Students are given a short introduction to the program at CAB and the art of ballet, the students are asked to remove their shoes and sit on the floor with their legs stretched and spines straight.  At this point, City of Angels Ballet School staff will look for the physical requirements necessary for admission.  Chosen students will receive an information packet to take home for parental review.

Demonstrations are conducted by Mario Nugara or a Senior City of Angels Ballet Instructor, assisted by several staff members of the City of Angels Ballet. Children learn about the process of becoming a professional dancer. Pointe shoes, tights, tutus, and ballet slippers are used as visual aids. Students are introduced to ballet and the life of a professional dancer, the various careers in dance are introduced and explained.  The time requirement is approximately 1.5 hours and can accommodate up to 100 students.  An in class audition can be added if requested prior to the demonstration date.
